Normal People star Paul Mescal has been pictured appearing to sniff a substance off a key during his weekend at Glastonbury.

The 2024 festival saw the likes of Louis Tomlinson and Cara Delevingne make appearances at the star-studded event at Worthy Farm, Somerset, as more than 200,000 people enjoyed music from the likes of Dua Lipa, Coldplay, SZA and Shania Twain.

Irish actor Paul, 28, was pictured alongside his All of Us Strangers co-star Andrew Scott over the weekend, and elsewhere was filmed allegedly sniffing a suspicious substance from a bag.

In the crowd for US band The National at The Other Stage, Paul was caught using a key to scoop the unknown substance to his nose.

An onlooker said: ‘Paul looked like he used a key to scoop some substance out of a bag which he lifted to his nose and sniffed.

‘He did it once then he dipped the key back into the bag and lifted it to his nose and sniffed again.’

They added to The Sun: ‘Paul didn’t seem to care if anyone could see him. He was dancing and laughing with his friends.’

It is claimed that he was joined at the start of the gig by his Normal People co-star Daisy Edgar-Jones, but she left around 20 minutes later.

Elsewhere over the weekend, Paul sent fans wild recreating Shania’s iconic ‘Let’s Go Girls’.

The country star was singing in the highly-anticipated Legends slot on Sunday, with BBC Radio 2 sharing a clip of Paul singing her famous Man! I Feel Like a Woman! intro.

She was among those celebrating what one fan called ‘quality content’, commenting: ‘Love it!’

Paul became a household name in 2020 after starring alongside Daisy, 26, in the adaptation of Sally Rooney’s Normal People.

He’s since been nominated for an Oscar for Aftersun, won a Laurence Olivier Award for A Streetcar Named Desire, and is now set to star in the sequel to Sir Ridley Scott’s Gladiator.

And while he’s climbing the ladder to Hollywood for fame, Paul previously admitted he worries he’d become ‘depressed’ if more people know who he is.

‘Is it just that more people will stop you in the street? I’d get profoundly depressed if that’s so and hope it isn’t true,’ he told PA.

He admitted he doesn’t yet have an answer for what a difference in fame would look like, but if Gladiator 2 ‘impacts my life in that way, I’ll be in a bad spot.’
